What Causes Blood In The Urine?

My 8 year old son has Type VI (Kyphoscoliosis) Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. He recently had a physical, 6 weeks post operative from a lengthening of the harrington rod in his back. The nurse called and said there was blood in his urine and to follow up in 2 weeks with another urine test. He is not in any pain and nothing seems unusual. He is acting perfecly normal. Any ideas?

Thanks for query.
It might be due to someurinary tract infection if there is fever or due to stone and some foods.
Do urine test and x- ray if advised by local doctor.
