What Causes Blood In Stool, stomach Pain And Itchiness?

There is a small amount of blood on the tissue after I wipe after a bowel movement. I also itch and sometimes am sore. I was thinking it was a hemorrhoid and have been using preparation H but it only gives temporary relief and the itch and pain comes back. I m also having irregular bowel movements. I wouldn t say that it s diarrhea but its not solid stool either. Often times after I finish with my bowel movement I still feel like I have to go and get an ache in my stomach. I m not sure if these are all related or separate.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It definitely sounds like haemorrhoids. I suggest you have a sigmoidoscopy or proctoscopy to assess your distal bowel and have rubber band ligation if there are any grade 2 or 3 haemorrhoids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
