What Causes Blood In Stool?

I have had mucus strings (less than during ovulation) come out on, with, or after when wiping when I go #2. Today, I noticed what looked like blood clots in my stool. Do I need to worry? What should I do? Female, 25, 5'6'', 138. Asthma, Strabismus, cronic at times--ear infections, sinus infections, allergies.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You already have multiple problems like asthma, strabismus, ear and sinus infections, allergies and now the blood in stool. Since you are 25 years old so cancer possiblity in your case looks negligible.

The common cause of blood in stool of a 25 year old female are:

-Hemorrhoids or piles (commonly called as piles).
-Fissure in anus, proctitis or ulcers in colon and so on.

The best way to get this diagnosed is to get a perrectal digital examination, ano-proctoscopy and colonoscopy done if indicated.

Till then, take sitz bath in a tub with warm water. Take laxatives to keep stool soft. Give samples of stool and blood for lab tests.

Get a review for all your other problems to get a proper management of these conditions also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
