What Causes Blood In Stool?

I started having bloody stools (bright red) a couple of times a day about three months ago, but the last couple of months I dash to the bathroom about 5 times a day and do not want to leave my home. There will be a large amount of blood and blood clots about every 10 days or so. My stomach rarely cramps and I do not get diarrhea, but it is definitely not firm after the first one of the day. My last colonoscopy was 4 years ago. When this first happened I discussed with my PCP twice and she felt strongly that it was internal hemorrhoids. After a month of no improvement I called my gastro doc and he said it was internal hemorrhoids as well. I expected them to heal by now. We recently relocated and I have not established local docs. Please advise.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As you are experiencing the symptoms for long, it is better to go for a colonoscopy to look for any possible hemorrhoids and other causes like polio or tumors.

As of now, you can take fiber rich foods for smooth bowel movements.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
