What Causes Blood In Stool?

For the past few days I ve had noticeable blood in my stool. However I don t see any obvious blood until it is in the toilet and the water starts to turn red. My stool is back and very creamy. I m feeling very tired but otherwise not in any noticeable distress. my lower abdomen feels crampy at times and almost like a dull ache. I m 43, I ve had no heath issues in my life. I m very healthy- I run many miles and/or work out every day for many years now. Cholesterol is low. The only thing different is when my birth control pill was renewed, I m now getting the non generic version of Apri. But took the generic formula for 1 year. I just started the new non generic version Sunday. Not sure if its related but its the only new or different substance I ve introduced to my body in quite some time. I m still very hungry as usual. Several days this week I did notice my urine darker than usual and I thought it odd since I drink a lot of water. Not sure if I have a small form of internal bleeding?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to hemorrhoids. A physical examination is needed to confirm the diagnosis.

Some advice that I can give to you is:
-Add fiber to your diet slowly to avoid problems with gas.
-Use topical treatments.
-Apply an over-the-counter hemorrhoid cream or suppository containing hydrocortisone, or use pads containing witch hazel or a numbing agent.
-Soak regularly in a warm bath or sitz bath.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
