What Causes Blood In Stool?
my nine year old daughter has had blood in her stool on many occasions. tonight when she went to the bathroom, it looked like tobacco and she said when she pottied at school, there was blood in it. what could this be? should i contact her peds gastro?

Causes of Blood in Stool. Blood in the stool means there is bleeding somewhere in your digestive tract.
At other times it may visible on toilet tissue or in the toilet after a bowel movement as bright red blood. Bleeding that happens higher up in the digestive tract may make stool appear black and tarry.
It may be colitis, diverticular disease, fissure or hemorrhoids or gut ulceration. Please contact your paed gastroenterologist. She may need an endoscopy.
