What Causes Blood In Stool And Weight Gain?

Hi, I am a 24 year old male that has been experiencing bright red blood in my stool for the past 15 months. For the first 12 months, it occured about 2-3 times a week with 1 tablespoon. However this year around August 30th, the amount rose to about 8 tablespoons which prompted me to go to ER. They did a clinical exam and digital rectal exam and ruled out external hemorroids and anal fissure. Blood results (CBC w/ diff and BMP) were all normal. They advised to go to GI doc for sigmoid colonoscopy which i have not done yet. The reason was for the last 3 months there was no visible sign of blood. However, 5 days ago i saw about 2 tablespoons of blood and again today I saw 1 tablespoon of blood? I do not feel any abdominal pain, no fever, nausua, vomiting, diarrhea. I have gained about 20 lbs over the past year. I dont smoke and drink about a pack of beer a week. No family history of cancer. What can this possibly be?
