Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my daughter fell 2 months ago on her tailbone and still complains of it being sore when sitting to long or even touching the area herself. but what concerns me is she is haveing trouble having a bowel movement and says sometimes there is blood in her stool. should i take her to dr. or chiropractor?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
History of fall on the tailbone, in case of your daughter, can cause local pain and tenderness but cannot cause blood in the stool. If there is blood in stool along with pain it may be a fissure in ano.
You should take her to a general surgeon for per rectal digital palpation for tailbone and also proctoscopy for knowing whether she has hemorrhoids or fissure. Also, needed are: • Sitz bath in a tub with warm water • Analgesics • Laxatives • Avoid long sitting hours
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
