What Causes Blood In Sputum?
My son just told me he s had blood in his mucas once he caughs it up,... he has no other symptoms and is not sick. He doesn t have blood when he blows his noes,... just when he caughs up stuff. its been like this for about two weeks. Any idea what could cause this? he s a heathy fit boy other then this.

Blood in sputum is called hemoptysis
Pneumonia, bronchitis, mitral stenosis, bronchiectasis etc are some causes
Bronchitis seems most likely here because presentation not severe
Investigate your child with chest x ray, CBC, EKG for primary work up
