Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having a problem with blood in my semen after sex and masturbating. I have seen a General P and he was thinking it was a bacterial infection in the testes. He prescribed 500 mg. Levofloxacin for 7 days. It did not seem to help. What are your thoughts?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Having blood in the semen after sex and masturbation could be due to infection in the testis or due to mucosal injuries due to infection of the urethra. Since you have been already treated with a course of antibiotics for infection of the testis, it would be better to find out if this is happening due to mucosal damage in the urethra. The commonest cause for this could be due to urethral strictures or urinary tract infection. Since you do not have any other symptoms of urinary tract infection, it would possibly due to urethral stricture. Kindly consult Urologist and get urethral examination done by means of cystoscopy. Then accordingly, it could be managed. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
