What Causes Blood In Sclera?

my husbands left eye has blood red where the white should be and seems to be a small sac of blood at the bottom. he said it was sore when he got up this morning. don t know if he poked his eye in his sleep. this is causing concern because he is on warfarin but we just had it checked and the warfarin is to remain the same as it has been for the last 2 months. waiting for a call from the dr. but thought we could get some possibilities as to problem.
