What Causes Blood And Mucus In The Bowels?

A year ago I gave birth to a 11lb 4 oz baby boy since having him I have had laser surgery to remove hemorrhoid s before the surgery I started passing mucus after a BM then there was blood after I would wipe, they did blood work to find I had a slight case of H.Pylori I took meds and it cleared up for maybe 6 months but then it returned, after having a colonoscopy the specialist thought it could maybe be IBS as he could see the mucus since then I have stopped going to the doctor about it as after having X-rays and ultra sounds and spending a ton of money no one can give me a answer. Ulcerative colitis is in my family both my farther and brother have it, only I never have diarrhea, what s your take on this ever so lovely problem that I have going on, I am only 33eat rather healthy stopped drinking caffeine and soda thinking it could be a cause thanks Katie

Hi.
Thanks fr your query.
Noted your history of having baby, operated hemorrhoids, blood and mucus in stool, H. pylori infection ulcerative colitis in family and so on.
Since the colonoscopy showed nothing the mucus can be due to inflammation of the mucosa of the colon and there are many reasons for it.
There is nothing like eating healthy. You have to note down literally the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance your problems of mucus in stool. Stop them and you will be fine.
Also note about the other factors like anxiety and/or stress that causes this and avoid all such factors, you will be fine.
Go for stool tests for 3 consecutive days and if anything specific is found, get treated accordingly.
Add probiotics and multivitamins and take therapeutic dosages of Vitamin A and D after the blood tests if deficiency is present.
