What Causes Blood And Mucus In Stools Post Colonoscopy?

I had a colonoscopy done last week due to a tumor on my digestive track that was only found when I went in for a pre-op to have my right ovary removed due to cancer cells. Surgery was delayed for the right ovary removal for fear of puncturing anything on my digestive track. After the colonoscopy, I had some minor bleeding and a lot of mucus when actually having a bm. Then this week, I ended up with one of the worst vaginal yeast infections I have ever had. Is this all related somehow?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of blood and mucus in stools post colonoscopy which seems to be either infection or inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. The symptoms you mention in query are normal after colonoscopy, but if it persist for longer period then it will be a course of concern, because it can be infection due to contaminated equipment . You should consult gastroenterologist once and get complete blood investigations done. Start treatment after proper diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics at least for a week . You should take antispasmodics as well. Take plain and soft food and avoid hot, sharp and spicy food substances. You should take oral rehydration solution for maintaining the hydration and electrolyte balance of the body. Avoid intake of large foods and try to prefer small and frequent meals.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
