What Causes Blocked Right Ear, Fullness And Hearing Sounds In Ear?

I have had a blocked right ear for 14 weeks, have seen GP 4 times and saw specialist yesterday however he was not a great communicator. He checked the ear and noses and heel to toe exercise to test my balance. He made no comment about these tests. He conducted 2 types of Audiogram tests and told me the hearing was diminished somewhat but the same level in both ears. At age 63 I would expect it is more age related. My ability to hear perfectly is not the problem, it is the unrelenting fullness and popping (static) sounds in my right ear and more recently my left ear, it is like a form of mental torture, it is causing distress particularly when I drive. Ear fullness commenced after I had bronchitis for 2 weeks, there was excessive head mucus and I burst a blood vessel in the nose because I was consistently blowing my nose very hard to shift it. (The specialists shook his head when I told him this but he did not offer an explanation why I should not continue with this exercise. GP put me on antibiotics for 10 days and told me to regularly hold my nose and blow to clear ear passages. When this did not work I was given a script for a nasal spray - no improvement. I was told the problem could take some weeks to resolve. I was frustrated that the specialist was not forthcoming with any diagnosis, when I said is this it???? he suggested I try Hygroton tablets for two weeks to reduce fluid retention. He then added if I had any further concerns he would recommend an MRI. Before taking such a drastic step (I am claustrophobic) I would first like to understand what the problem is. Would appreciate any assistance.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Halo sir,
as per your description, ear fullness started after bronchitis. It might be due to eustachean tube block. You GP was right to ask you to blow air to your nose. You continue with it and take steam inhalation as well. I can better explain if you tell finding of your audiology test.
