What Causes Bleeding With A History Of Cervical Cancer?

Dear Dr. Manjunath,

My mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer stage IIA in 2005. She underwent radiation and has been in remission since then. She has just started bleeding and is waiting for the pap smear results which come out in a weeks time. Does this mean that the cancer has come back? Please advise

Hello dear. I have gone through your details. So rebleeding in a treated case of ca cervix after a pong period has to be taken as relapse of disease until proven otherwise. However you should not worry as effective treatment may still be possible if it is a localised disease. You should immediately consult your doctor for further evaluation. Take care
