What Causes Bleeding While Intercourse?

I have Portal Vein Thrombosis and I have been on warfarin for about 4 months now (still unable to figure out INR/dosage). My question is that every time I have intercourse, I end up bleeding pretty bad. I have the IUD called Mirena inserted and have had that for 5 years. and I haven t had my period since. I am bleeding while intercourse- IS THIS NORMAL? Am I going to have to worry about this everytime?

Hi,
You need to be examined by a specialist to see why you are bleeding with intercourse; if that is due to the anti-coagulant that you are on, or is it due to some local pathology. You need to get coagulation profiles, pap smear, vaginal swab and also a pelvic sonogram. The IUD may not be the cause, yet, if it has been found to be displaced or if the hormones are disturbed, you need removal and alternate replacement. Please maintain genital hygiene and abstain from intercourse until further treatment. Hope this helps.
