What Causes Bleeding During Intercourse?

My husband left me in Nov 2009. Then was sleeping w/ me and another female in Nov & Dec 2009. I found out in Jan and was done w/ him. I also found out that since he had a vasectomy he did not use protection w/ either of us. In Feb I became sexually active so I went on the pill. I am currently taking Tri-Sprintec and I'm on Pristiq. I'm not sure what causes it but I have been bleeding during intercourse since being w/ my ex-husband. I'm not sure if he gave me something or it's my medication. Any ideas why I would be bleeding?

Hello,
Thanks for letting us know your health concern. In the current scenario, you can get a clarification only after a proper clinical assessment, a pap smear, vaginal and cervical swabs, urinalysis and a sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route. If needed, you may be asked to go for colposcopy and a biopsy of the cervix. The contraceptive pill can cause abnormal menstrual pattern but not post coital bleeding. Moreover, you had the complaint even before you started using the pill. Hope this helps.
