What Causes Bleeding After Intercourse?

Hi. So my boyfriend and I had protected sex about two weeks ago. He did other things to me pretty roughly as well. The next day I started bleeding and didn t stop for almost a week. It stopped for two days and then came back the day I was supposed to start my period. I ve been really stressed and I messed up my birth control. This is the first time bleeding after sex ever happened. What could be going on?

Hi,
As you mentioned, it could be due to the rough approach of your partner while having intercourse. Also, local causes like vaginitis, erosions of the cervix, polyps and urinary infections can cause such symptoms. Please have a proper evaluation by a specialist to plan further management. If you have become irregular with your pills, this could add up to the bleeding irregularity in addition to exposing you to the risk of pregnancy since the cycle is no longer protected. Hope this helps.
