What Causes Bladder Spasms In A Person With Kidney Stones?

I have a large kidney stone which was causing a blockage, so dr. inserted a stent and moved the stone. I have been having painful bladder spasms. The doctor prescribed flomax. I am a 73 year old female. From what I have read, I don t see the reason.

Hello,

I am sorry for your sufferings and can understand your concern. You might be having double thoughts about taking Flomax as it is used in men to treat prostate enlargements. However, Flomax causes relaxation of the bladder muscles and decreases spasms so it is also used to treat urinary tract stones.

So I would advise you to continue with the medication and drink lots of fluids so that it becomes easier to remove the stone from body through urine.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMaic. I wish you feel better soon!

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
