What causes black stools?

You didn't answer my question. Why is it a concern? Do i need to go to the clinic? Could my diet cause black stools. I haven't been eating much the last few days. I had a few chocolate mint girl scouts cookies and a salad yesterday. would that cause it?

- chocolate induced ( via partially digested component ) - bleeding ulcer
stomach or duodenum - hemorrhoid - others .
