What Causes Black Dots On Skin And Is There Any Lotion To Control Itching?

hello. I am Jill Cody from Dallas, Texas. For about five years now I have been experiencing what feels like bites , extreme itching, and tiny red spots on hands and feet, and most clothing I wear causes extreme itching as well. We just moved from a 1950 s home that had alot of structural problems, and we had carpenter ants and I m afraid we had bed bugs as well. We moved 5 months ago and of course probably brought bed bugs with us. In cracks of the mattress I have seen tiny red dots, and sometimes even on my skin I have seen tiny black dots which one doctor waid could be mites. The solution as you know was for me to put on a topical for 24 hours and wash every single thing in the house. I didn t do that. We were given 2 couches from a friend around time this began and in a conversation with him about a 6 months ago he said they had experienced an infestation in their home (can t remember what).... But it was some kind of bug. It gets worse when I am in kitchen around the sink doing dishes, and even cooking. I have never had sensitive skin before. When I pull clothes out of the dryer there is considerable lint all over and appears to be tiny black things among it. I have samples I can take to A&M here, but wondered if you had any ideas for me? This has caused extreme grief with me as I itch constantly. My scalp, hands and feet are the worst. I am using grapeseed oil and peppermint oils, but haven t found a lotion that controls itching. Thank you so much for your help, Jill C Dallas, Texas

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,
I can understand your concern for the bites , extreme itching, and tiny red spots on hands and feet and most clothing.

In my opinion it appears to be allergic contact dermatitis due to an contact allergen. In this condition there are eruptions along with moderate itching and in more aggravated cases there is appearance of more redness.

In this condition a thorough history of contact allergens are to be taken and accordingly a specific diagnostic technique known as patch test is to be undertaken.

If I were your dermatologist then would have suggested you to apply medium to high potency steroid cream application such as fluticasone or mometasone along with an antihistamine such as Loratadine twice daily.

All the best.
