What Causes Black Bruising On The Knuckles Upon Wearing A Cast?

I am currently in a half cast for a Colle s fracture of my right wrist. I have 15 days left until the cast comes off. I am noticing that the knuckles on that hand are darker colored than normal. The doctor says it s just a cast callous . It doesn t hurt, but it looks stupid and I m getting married in 3 months! How do I get rid of it when the cast comes off???

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The fact that the darker areas are not painful is a good sign. Very likely this is a callous from the cast. With the removal of the cast, the skin should go back to its normal color, so you should not worry.

I hope I have answered your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
