Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I came down with a fever a week ago. It was only for a few days. I only drank 7-UP because it was the only thing I can take into my stomach. The fever went away and I am ok. Problem now is that I am belching alot after I eat something. I am mostly passing wind alot in the morning. During the day I eat but very little. Is this a gas problem that I have and what can I do to fix this?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Fever with gases, flatulence, burping and intolerance to oral food can be due to a mild form of Gastroenteritis. Hence I would advise you the following: Get the tests of stool and blood. Take a PPI like Omeprazole. Antacids orally at three hourly. Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and correlation with tests. A course of an antibiotic may be required if there is any evidence of infection and may help to correct the problems. Take soft and bland diet, small frequent quantities. Plenty of oral fluids to avoid dehydration. Probiotics, bananas. activated charcoal and yogurt may help further.
