What Causes Back Pain After Getting Hit On The Kidney Area?

I got hit really hard last night by an adult male with an elbow to my kidney while playing soccer. I had the wind knocked out of me and some difficulty breathing for a while. My back is throbbing where I was hit and occassionally I get a shooting pain or spasm. It s painful everytime I move. Is it most likely a really bad bruise or could I have some internal damage? I haven t seen any bruising yet.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you to take an appointment with your doctor to make urine test, abdominal ultrasound and X-ray. It is possible to be a kidney contusion or and damage of rib bones.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
