What Causes Azoospermia?

My husband went for a sperm Analysis, we have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years now. His results came back on all 3 test which all read TND, does that mean no sperm was found? Does this mean we can t get pregnant again? We got pregnant 2 years ago with twins and we lost the pregnancy, this is devastating news.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Azoospermia means absence of motile, and hence viable) sperm in the semen.
The sperm count in this condition is equal or less than 15 million/ml.
Hence, it is associated with very low levels of fertility or even sterility in men.
Infections, hormonal imbalance associated with sperm production, obstruction to the ducts and other medical illness could be associated with azoospermia.
If the defect is primarily in the testis, then azoospermia is usually permanent. Only Pre- and post-testicular causes of azoospermia are frequently correctible.
Hence, the condition needs to be evaluated by clinical examination and investigates to determine the cause, so that it can be appropriately managed.
Kindly consult Andrologist or Infertility Specialist in this regard for appropriate evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
