What Causes Asymmetrical Tonsils And Redness In The Throat?

Hello, my name is Carina and I’m currently stressing over the fact my daughter has a sore throat and her the back of her mouth is slightly red. Her tonsils are two different sizes and oddly shaped. She is 12 years old and I’m not sure what is the problem. I would highly appreciate it if I got some sort of conclusion to what the problem may be, if any. Thank you

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

All asymmetrical tonsils are not a malignancy or lymphoma. Many times it is infection or tonsilar stone. If larger tonsil not responding to antibiotic and stayed years together may cause lymphomas please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
