What Causes Anxiety And Dizziness In An Elderly Person?

My mother just called me who is 96 years old, she said she woke up from a nap feeling a bit dizzy. No headache or fever, stomach isn t upset. I ve just moved for the summer to a place not near her, I told her to drink some Sprite and I ll chk on here in a few hours. She has had this before and it was anxiety I believe, I just thought I d run it by you and see if I m missing anything. She is otherwise very healthy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The dizziness can be related to may medical conditions. It can be related to orthostatic hypotension due to the change of the position. It can also be related to a middle ear issue.

I suggest regular measurements of the blood pressure and avoid salt in the diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
