What Causes Anemia And Low Platelet Count In Blood?

I am a 36 year old female. I weigh 168 lbs and am 5'6" tall. I recently have been having trouble with fatigue and lightheadedness. I went to the doctor and he did a routine blood tests. The test showed that I had a low blood count.....decreased red blood count, hemoglobin and hematocrit. In addition, my RDW is high, while my MCV is bordering on low. When looking at the differential, the Netrophils are high, but the lymphocytes are low. My platetlets are enlarged. My doctor sent me for an anemia panel and a thyroid test, all of which were normal. I am waiting for an appointment to see my doctor again next week, but I am unsure what questions to ask him. There is a family history of Leukemia on my mother's side. (My maternal grandfather died from Leukemia,) so I am worried that these may be indicators of a similar condition. What questions should I ask, and should I be concerned if the anemia panel came back normal and the rest of my blood tests are abnormal?

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You may have anemia due to blood loss or other causes. You may not have any nutritional deficiency. so your anemia profile may be normal. No need to worry about leukemia. Low count with high neutrophil does not suggest leukemia. Just consult your docotr and find the cause of your low count. Don't worry. Just be relaxed.
