What Causes Anemia And Fatigue?

I think that I have some type of anemia. I have been extremely fatigued. I take vitamins. I have MTHFR genetic mutation on 2 alleles. I do not have PNH. History of DVT and PE. Other than RBC, (B12, and Folate tests are usless with my MTHFR), what type of specific blood tests should I get?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Anemia and fatigue appear to be due to MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) genetic mutation on two alleles. Since low levels of vitamins B6, B12, and folic acid with MTHFR genetic mutations are associated with a high level of homocysteine which is a risk factor cardiovascular diseases such as thrombosis or stroke. You need to be tested for the homocysteine levels as a screening method for increased risk of cardiovascular conditions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
