What Causes Anal Itching?

I was having itchy Anus for about a week. Then I studied what I have been eating, so I suspended drinking sweet / eating sugary stuff for two days, plus I started cleaning with water rather than clean with tissues. Since then I have gotten relieved. Can you explain what might have been the cause and does it mean I should not eat sweets?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Welcome to HCM.
I appreciate your concern for the anal itching.

After having gone through your problem of anal itching I am of the opinion that the use of tissue paper after the acts of defecation is responsible for the itching and this is subsided once you started using water to clean instead of tissue papers.

Another reason could be the diet itself, spicy and sugary stuff may cause irritation of the anal lining and hence itching.

If your itching still persists or aggravates during night time, get your stool examination done to rule out pinworms.

Hope this answers your query.
