What Causes Anal Bleeding?

My husband is working with a surgeon. He has bleeding from his anus that will not seem to stop. He wears a sanitary pad to collect the discharge. He tells me that the discharge of blood, puss, and poop. He is scheduled for a cat scan tomorrow. He has had a colonospy and has been going into the hospital to have it cleaned out about every 2 weeks. The surgeon is stumped as to what is causing the pain and the puss.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Anal bleeding can occur due to hemorrhoids, ulcer in the anal canal and growth of the rectum or anal canal.
Is the bleeding accompanying stools or not associated with stools?
Pus associated with blood is indicative of infectious focus in the anal canal or the rectum.

Pus can be seen in anal canal and abscess. As you have mentioned that no lesion is seen in colon or rectum, it is quite possible that some suspicious lesion is present in the anal canal. A complete assessment of the anal canal is required to look for any suspicious lesion in the anal canal.

Thanks and take care
