What Causes An Umbilicus Pimple With Pain And Swelling?

So two days ago, i assumed for some reason that I got a zit at the end inside of my belly button. It hurts when i move and stuff, i think because of the pressure on the swollenness. The pain reminds me of a zit in your nose, that hurts really bad! My mom even tried popping the bubble with a pin. I tried peroxide. I just don't know what it is and ofcourse I'm worried it could be a hernia. When I look in a magnifying mirror close to light, all I can see is a swollen bubble, with a small red spot on it. ARGH! Nothing is coming out, no puss or blood. HELP!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history you are having a furuncle. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream.
3. Take a NSAID like Ibuprofen.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like Levofloxacin, Cefadroxil and Azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
