What Causes An Itchy And Painful Sore On The Calf?

I have a large sore on my calf. It started as a small red mark. Its is very itchy and burns on the edge. It is now the size of my hand and there is another one starting on the front of my leg. It had blisters around the top and edge of the sore. The contain clear yellowish fluid. I have had it for about two weeks. I was in the emergency for the last five mornings with iv antibiotics. It did not clear up. The doctor is now treating me for herpes 2. I have not had any sex partners or been sexually active in years. He thinks I got it from a public toilet seat (on the lower calf?) Any thoughts as to where I should direct my doc?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a fungal infection. I recommend to ask a second opinion by another dermatologist or send a picture to help us through the diagnosis. I suggest to use an antifungal cream for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
