What Causes An Infant To Have Big Head And A Thin Body?

Hi, my brother in-laws son died last week, he was 8 months old. My husband went for the final rights and he said that the body of the baby did not look healthy. He said he had a big head and a very small thin body. He said they have a name for it in Hindi that translates to dry stick. I wonder if you could tell me what this illness is? I am British and wondered if it was an illness that could have been treated. Thanks.

Hi...by what you quote I feel that it could be congenital hydrocephalus (as you say the boy had a large head with a relatively small body). Assuming that it is congenital hydrocephalus - we need to take an MRI brain and see how the internal structures are and based on that only we can decide whether it is treatable or not.
