What Causes An Enlarged Spleen?

MY SPLEEN WAS MEASURED AT 16 CM DIAMETER IN AN ULTRASOUND. THEY THOUGHT I WAS CARRYING EXCESS FLUID IN ABDOMINAL CAVITY, BUT SAID THERE WAS NO EXCESS FLUID. WHY WOULD SPLEEN BE SO LARGE? I HAVE RECENTLY GAINED AROUND 40 POUNDS IN 3 MONTHS. PLEASE ANSWER?
