What causes altered sense of smell, burning sensation in nose and stinging eyes?

I have had a smoke smell, with burning sensation in nose and stinging eyes for approximately 8 months now. I have had a sinus scan and consulted with a ear, nose and throat specialists and he hasn t found anything. It sometimes goes away but in the last 4 months has been pretty consistent with 2-3 day breaks. Have changed all medications in case of an allergic reaction but no change. Fucidin cream in nose, no change. seeing a neurologist next month. Is there anything else I could be on the look out for to determine what my problem is?
