General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy condition can be managed conservatively and surgically.
Initially, when the hypertrophy is small and is not causing any other symptoms related to urination, it is easy to manage conservatively through medications, like the ones you were taking.
But once the complications like retention of urine acutely or other symptoms sets in due to narrowing of urethra caused due to hypertrophy of prostate, it needs to be attended by means of surgery.
Acute retention of urine can be managed by cathterization temporarily.
You need to plan for surgery - 'Trans Urethral Resection of Prostate' (TURP) at the earliest to overcome such complications.
Kindly consult Urologist in this regard for appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
