What Causes Acute Rapid Eye Movement Sleep Syndrome?

I am suffering from acute rapid eye movement sleep syndrome. The moment I go to sleep I start seeing active dreams as if I am watching a movie. This results in heavy head when I wake up the next morning. I feel I have not slept at all. This happens in total sleep period throughout the night. Pls suggest some remedy. This is for the last 3 years and started suddenly when I left strong depression medication all of a sudden.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The exact cause of rapid eye movement sleep syndrome isn't known. Sometimes is linked with anxiety, or when you stop using some medication abruptly like amitriptyline for example. I suggest to consult with your doctor because the medication that you should take need a prescription and follow up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
