What Causes Acne On The Face And Stomach Cramps During Period?

Hello Doctor, I have a question regarding my wife s health condition. She is from India, and she has hardly ever had acne or PMS. But now, since we got married four months ago and we moved to the US, she has been getting acne and PMS. Her acne and cramps and body pains are becoming worse with every periods. Any thoughts on what could be the triggers for this condition?

Hi,

Noted the history related to your wife who is from India and got married to move to US, started bad PMS and acne.
It is well known that marriage and such instances in a life of a female, change to very different place, culture and so on can have hormonal imbalances.
Hence the cause of her acne and bad PMS looks to be due to hormonal for which I would advise you the following:
First of all reassure her that there is not much to worry about and she will slowly get adjusted to the new place, environment and marriage changes too.
Get the hormonal levels checked and treated as required under the guidance of a Endocrinologist and/or a Gynecologist as she needs good counselling too.
Ultrasonography to see for the ovaries in particular. To see for PCOD/PCOS and get treated accordingly if anything positive.
May require consultation of a Dermatologist if the acne are too much troublesome.
