What Causes Acne After Taking Temodar?
I began developing acne shortly after beginning Temodar. I finished the Temodar last year but the acne remained. It is cystic acne I m sure. I have never had it; neither has anyone in my family. I plan to make an appointment with dermatologist due mostly to the pain of the condition, although my face looks awful. At 40 I wouldn t expect to have acne. Any chance it s the Temodar?

Temoder is an anti cancer medication which is used to treat anaplastic astrocytoma and glioblastoma multiforme brain tumors. Chemotherapy medications like Temodar may cause acne or acne like rash as a side effects. Though this rash may be similar in appearance to acne it is treated differently. Acne most often appears on the body, face and scalp in people with carcinoma. The cause of acne during cancer treatment is a combination of factors. Keep hydration during cancer treatment is very very challenging task. Lack of hydration, skin may become dry and flaky which can aggravate acnes. Again, constipation or lack of regular bowel movement also can worsen acnes. Finally, squeezing pimples can cause a spreading infection. Topical clindamycin gel or oral antibiotics like tetracycline or both can be prescribed as a treatment protocol. Keeping hydration, avoiding constipation and moisturizing face may also help to reduce acnes.
