What Causes Absence Of Methadone In Urine Despite Taking It Regularly?

well I am on methadone, and get take homes which means I ve earned the right to go to the methadone clinic only twice a week I go on Friday drop off my empty bottles ad return Saturday and pick up my full bottles for the week anyway I have to submit to random urinalysis which have been clean for close to two years, however I ve had maybe four times that my urines came back with no methadone however I have metabolites, so I usually have to do a mouth swab to make sure Prove I am not messing with the urines any way I ve been clean and am baffled why my urines have no methadone sometimes.. My question is this are there outside factors that can speed my metabolism to a point the methadone is pushing threw my system aster than other times I have recently gone back to work as a landscaper and been working 12/14 hour days and I drink at least 6 bottles of water 4/5 cans of ice tea can this be effecting my urine screens?

Hello,
As you may know, methadone is mostly metabolised in the liver, from different enzymes, and then excreted through your kidneys. But this process doesn't take the same time in different people, or at the same person on different conditions. Actually numbers vary very much. It takes from 8-59 hours to eliminate half of the product from your organism.
Now, this happens from a number of factors.
First, the enzyme that transforms methadone is affected by many factors. It can be induced (accelerated process) or inhibited (slower process) by different other drugs, food products and emotional conditions.
Second, the amount of fluid taken can dilute your urine, and thus result in lower concentration of the drug in urine.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Wish you good health.
