What Causes Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Petogen Injection?
I had the petogen injection 3 days after my daughters birth in march 2015. I had irregular bleeding constantly and bad side effects. I was meant to go back 4th june for my next shot and didnt, i started bleeding that night. Is it my period? Would it return so soon?
Hi & Welcome. I appreciate your concern for the vaginal bleeding after taking Petojen injection.
Petogen is a long acting contraceptive (effective for 3 months) you need to take the next shot within 5 days after 3 months, otherwise its contraceptive efficacy is less. Unfortunately the irregular & prolonged bleeding that you are having could be related to the injection Petogen that you have had in month of March this year. It is not a normal period however it would return to normal cycles in due course of time.
Since you have developed abnormal bleeding, I advise you to consult your gynecologist for proper evaluation and treatment of the abnormal bleeding.
You may need an alternate but safer method of contraception if you wish to prevent the pregnancy.
Hope I could answer your query.
