What Causes Abnormal Bowel Movements?

I have been having abnormal stools and bowel habits for about 6 months. The bowel motions are not well formed, soft to loose, clay coloured and sticky, sometimes loose and explosive and of offensive odour. It gives me a sense of incomplete clearance and sticky bottom and I have to brush the toilet bowl every time. I go once daily or on alternate days. I feel well and have a good appetite. I eat good food with plenty of fibres and drink plenty of fluids, especially water. I lead an active life. My blood tests show normal results, including liver function tests. Normal colonoscopy and abdominal CT scan showing normal Liver and Pancreas. Any suggestion?

Hi,

As per your query, you are having symptoms of abnormal bowel movements which seem to be due to gastritis leading to electrolyte imbalance, could be due to poor digestion, improper metabolism, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you consult gastroenterologist once for proper examination. The doctor may order stool test, ultrasound, endoscopy along with that take history. The doctor may prescribe laxative, ornidazole or albendazole along with ranitidine. You should avoid intake of outside food. You should eat light and non-spicy, avoid food like seafood and nuts, take antacid after every meal and keep your head elevated while lying down.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
