What Causes Abdominal Pain, Nausea And Fever?

My husband experienced severe abdominal pain for a couple hours. He felt nauseous but did not vomit. The pain subsided to a 4 or 5 out of 10, and he didn t sleep well, as the pain woke him often. At noon today he felt feverish. At 2:15 today his temp was 100.8. He had an ulcer in the duodenum in April, which presented itself with blood in the stool. Could this be another ulcer? I didn t think a fever accompanied an ulcer.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Uncomplicated duodenal ulcer will not cause fever. Fever, nausea and abdominal pain indicates an infection inside abdomen, like acute gastroenteritis, a urinary tract infection, or rarely an appendicitis.

As these conditions may need appropriate antibiotic treatment after clinical assessment, kindly see your doctor. Meanwhile, let him take paracetamol 500 mg 3-4 times after food to control fever and abdominal pain. Avoid spicy food and drink plenty of fluids.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
