What Causes Abdominal Hernia?

A week after my daughter and I were in a car accident I noticed that she has an abdominal hernia in an area that her car seat restraint woud have been. Is it possible that the car accident caused her hernia? My daughter would have been 18 mos. old at that time.

Most likely the hernia has been present since birth but may be more prominent after the accident. As long as the hernia is not stuck out (wont push back in) , is not warm or painful, typically they heal with time. If still present at age 5 , can consider fixing it at that time.
