What Causes Abdominal Discomfort After A Hiatal Hernia Repair Surgery?

I had a hiatal hernia repair three weeks ago. I was healing well up until a few days ago. then I began having foam come up from my stomach, and a lot of discomfort after eating. I have been on regular food for about ten days. Now it seems I can only eat soft food again. What am I doing wrong.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is quite common after hiatal hernia surgery. You can stick on to soft liquid-based diet for a few weeks. You can also take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist you can consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
