I m 5 weeks pregnant with light period-like cramps. I ve had these for 1.5 weeks, below my belly button. Today & yesterday I had light brown mucus when I wiped (once each day). Is this normal? I m going to be a first time mom, so nervous this 1st trimester & don t want to miscarriage.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Some period-like cramps are normal with pregnancy. As for the bleeding, if it lasts more than a few days or gets any worse you may need to see your doctor. You may need an ultrasound to make sure you have an intrauterine pregnancy.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
