What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Swollen Ankles While On Fosamax?
Hi, I have been on fosamax for a while now. My doctor told me to take this every other month. I am 75 years old. Lately I have been having feelings of menstrual period cramps no bleeding, also my ankles have been swollen. Could these symptoms be because I am taking Fosamax ?
I recommend: • Physician consult. • Blood tests (complete blood count, calcium and phosphate levels, sodium, potassium, and bicarbonate levels). • Ultrasound of abdomen to check for any gynecological issues like fibroids.
Based on these we can find out what's happening.
You may need calcium supplements. While sitting, avoid hanging your legs. Keep feet elevated comfortably at hip level. Support legs below knees. Avoid standing for too long (more than half an hour at a stretch). Gentle walking with feet exercises will help. Please talk to your doctor before initiating any exercises.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
