What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Frequent Urination?

I am 70 years old. I am having cramps (as if menstruating) and bladder problems. I am urinating much too frequently. I am seeing a urologist but the pills he has prescribed are not helping. I am in a lot of discomfort and wondering if this is usual for my age. I am about 25 pounds overweight and trying to lose some weight in the hope that this may help somewhat. I eat well and am in good shape.
