What Causes A Swollen Uvula?

3 days ago I tried to make myseld throw up, I am embarrased about it and do not want to go to my primary Dr and tell him this. Well, then next morning my uvula was swollen and very sore. Now it is so big I am having a hard time talking and it hurts very much. What can I do?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain swelling of uvula seems to be due to a combination of few factors like traumatic injury caused while trying to put pressure to throw up to vomit, inflammation caused due to injury with chemical substances and acid present in the vomitus as well as bacterial infection..
I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles, take tylenol or diclofenac or pain, a short course of antibiotic can be taken to relieve or prevent infection if present, avoid hot and spicy food, drink plenty of water and maintain a good oral hygiene..
Take a soft diet and more of fluids..
In case if the condition does not improve in a week consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
